Winning at Self Love

As February starts and slowly ends, everyone gets caught by the love fever. Red hearts are decorated all over malls and shops and teddy bears and roses cloud ones vision so much so that we often forget the most important kind of love. The Love of self.

We often hear the saying that we can not pour from an empty cup. Meaning, we cannot show love to another if we do not love ourselves.  And though the term itself may seem so ambiguous, here are some ways to turn the term self-love into the action word it should be.

Loving yourself means getting to know yourself and the best way to do that is to spend more time with yourself. Set a monthly calendar agreement to treat yourself out on a date. Whether you choose this date to be completely relaxing and mind clearing or you choose that this be introspective. ( ). The aim is to get to know yourself more.

You hate exercise, but that’s another thing you need to do more off. It releases the happy chemicals in your body. There’s a loophole to all this. You don’t need to go running or lift crazy weights. You can go for a dance night or hiking. Anything that can get your heartrate up and get you to break a sweat.

Learn to reward yourself. After a really long work week, reward yourself with you favorite slice of cake or that blazer you’ve been eyeing in the shop for a while now. It’s okay to pat yourself on the back because you are the first person to criticize yourself when something goes wrong.

Looking good can absolutely translate to feeling good! And everytime you want to ask yourself if you are overdressed the answer is always “no”. ( If wearing your favorite heels, or that chique formal shirt into the meeting is what boosts your confidence to get through the meeting, DO It!

( Loving yourself does not mean that you will always have a positive outlook on yourself, that’s unrealistic. Instead it allows you to be forgiving and open minded.
