We are back with another two interviews with the gorgeous guests of the Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards, 2022…and did these ladies understand the assignment!

Jane K. speaks to Jo-Marie, a nominee for fashion designer of the year, as well as another attendee. Jane asks the question: If you had thirty seconds, what would you tell your nation, Namibia?

Since we are asking questions, Paula and Chazz, who host the Fresh FM show, Fresh Air, every weekday from 4-7 pm, spoke on the same topic.

Paula wants Namibians to believe in what they are capable of: “I feel like we struggle with no national esteem and that’s one thing I’m always trying to promote on-air. We must believe in what we can achieve; just because nobody’s done it yet doesn’t mean it’s not possible. We are just as able as all these other countries we look up to. We can do it guys. Let’s do it!”

Chazz commented on the value of supporting local talent: “I think it’s time that we really and truly support our own. It’s ridiculous that we don’t take each other (in Namibia) seriously in the media space, in arts. Whether it’s singing or dancing, music, radio or TV. It’s time that we really support each other. That’s the only way we can grow in numbers in terms of the support outside of Namibia as well. We support South Africa way more than we support our own and we have a lot of talent.”

We Namibians can truly put our name out there. “We need to do it all from the inside, we need to do it all with passion!” (Jo-Marie, nominee for fashion designer of the year, 2022).
