Police seek public’s help in identifying human remains found in Otjomuise

The police are appealing to members of the public for assistance in identifying human remains discovered in Otjomuise, Windhoek.

The skeletal remains were found at about 10:30 on 11 July 2026 along the riverbank in the bushes, approximately 200 metres east of Matshitshi Gravel Road, after police responded to information received from a member of the public.

According to the police, officers who attended the scene found several items of clothing with the human remains, including a black Johnson T-shirt, a pair of yellow tracksuit trousers and a pair of sandals.

Police are now urging anyone who may recognise the clothing or who has information that could assist in identifying the deceased to come forward.

Anyone with relevant information is requested to contact Chief Inspector Oscar Shatipamba of the Namibian Police Forensic Science Institute on 081 129 7550 or visit the police mortuary to assist in identifying the clothing found at the scene.
