There are seasons in life when survival becomes our primary focus. Pain, disappointment, loss, trauma, and prolonged stress can cause us to build emotional walls simply to protect ourselves. While these defenses may help us endure difficult circumstances, they can also leave us feeling disconnected, guarded, and unable to experience the fullness of life.
Survival mode often teaches us to stay alert, expect the worst, and rely solely on our own strength. Over time, our hearts can become hardened, not because we want them to, but because we’ve been carrying too much for too long.
