Five suspects on the run after robbery at a Betting Shop

Five-armed men allegedly robbed a betting shop on Monday near the Okatana Service Station in Oshakati.

According to Chief Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, the incident occurred at around 09h28 when five male suspects entered the betting shop and threatened employees with a knife.

The suspects reportedly robbed the shop of about N$36 800 in cash before fleeing the scene.

Aiyambo said the gang used a Honda Fit without registration plates as a getaway vehicle, driving in the direction of the Oshikuku – Oshakati – Omungwelume road.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Members of the public who may have witnessed the robbery or who have any information regarding the suspects or the vehicle have been urged to come forward and report to the nearest police station.

The police have cautioned members of the public not to approach or confront the suspects, as they may be dangerous.

Aiyambo advised businesses in the area to bank their money regularly and to avoid keeping large amounts of cash on their premises.
