Father arrested for fatally stabbing daughter

Police in the Omusati Region arrested a 24-year-old father for allegedly fatally stabbing his five-year-old daughter on Wednesday afternoon. The man fled the scene at Oshifo village in the Ruacana Constituency.

According to Omusati Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, the suspect was arrested on Sunday at Oshikuku and is expected to appear in Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The suspect allegedly used an unknown sharp object to stab the daughter in the head and back. Basson said the victim died on the spot from her injuries.

Basson added that preliminary investigations reveal that the father and daughter were the only people at home when the incident happened. The exact motive behind the brutal killing remains unknown at this stage.
