Good Morning, Bestie
How are you doing today?? x
There comes a point in life when you have to accept that you cannot be the good person in everyone’s story.
And honestly? That’s okay.
Sometimes, choosing yourself will make you look selfish. Setting boundaries will make you look difficult. Walking away will make you look cold. Saying “no” will disappoint people who were comfortable with your constant “yes.”
But choosing peace sometimes means being misunderstood.
You Don’t Have to Be Understood by Everyone:
We spend so much time explaining ourselves.
Why we needed space. Why something hurt us. Why we walked away. Why we couldn’t keep showing up the same way.
But the truth is, some people will misunderstand you no matter how perfectly you explain yourself.
And that’s when you have to remember:
You don’t need everyone to understand your boundaries for them to be valid.
You are allowed to protect your heart. You are allowed to say no. You are allowed to leave situations that no longer feel healthy for you.
Your peace doesn’t require permission.
Sometimes You’re the Villain Because You Changed
People can become attached to the version of you that they benefited from.
The person who always answered the phone.
The person who always forgave.
The person who stayed quiet to keep everyone else comfortable.
Then one day, you change.
You start saying no. You stop chasing. You stop accepting the bare minimum. You stop explaining yourself.
And suddenly, you’re “different.”
Maybe you are.
Maybe that’s the point.
Growth can look like rejection to people who were comfortable with the old version of you.
Let Them Tell Their Version
Not everyone will tell your story fairly.
Some people will remember the moment you finally said enough, but forget the hundred times you tried to make things work.
They may remember your reaction but forget what led to it.
They may call you distant without remembering how many times you reached out.
Let them tell their version.
You don’t have to run around correcting every misunderstanding.
When you’ve made peace with your own choices, you don’t need to win every argument about who you are.
Claim Your Peace
There is a difference between hurting people intentionally and refusing to continue hurting yourself.
You can love someone and still walk away.
You can forgive someone and still choose distance.
You can wish someone well without giving them access to you again.
And you can choose yourself without becoming a bad person.
So if protecting your peace makes you the villain in someone else’s story, take a breath and ask yourself:
Am I being cruel, or am I simply no longer allowing myself to be mistreated?
Those are two very different things.
Be kind. Be honest. Be accountable.
But don’t abandon yourself just to remain the hero in someone else’s story.
Let people misunderstand you.
Let them have their opinions.
Let them tell their stories.
You don’t have to fight every accusation or correct every narrative.
Sometimes the most beautiful chapter of your life begins when you stop worrying about who thinks you’re the villain.
Choose yourself. Choose your peace. And give yourself permission to live a life that feels good on the inside, not just one that looks good to everyone else. ❤️
Much Love,
