Background

The African Export-Import Bank has pledged to finance major investment projects in Namibia through the Dangote Group and other credible African investors. Speaking in Namibia, Afreximbank President and Board Chairman George Elombi stated that the bank is prepared to back projects identified by the government, provided developers demonstrate the technical expertise and financial credibility to deliver. Elombi highlighted Dangote’s strong continental track record, adding that Afreximbank has no hesitation in putting US$10 billion on the table for the group because of its proven execution capacity and reliable repayment record.
