An immersive music and culture experience, that is how I would define the Bushfire Festival in one sentence. The MTN Bushfire festival is takes place annually in eSwatini and was first held in 2007. This year, the festival was held under the theme “bring your fire” and myself, King Arthur from the Fresh Mid Mornings, and Nande – host of the Afternoon Buzz and Smooth Sundays where in attendance for this year’s celebration of music and cultural diversity.

Picture this: The stages each offering a blend of great music.

The MTN Main Stage with performances from musical acts such as Sho Madjozi, Jack Sparrow and Ami Faku who performed on her birthday 28 May.

The Ballantine’s Stage celebrating true music experience with DJ’s from all around Africa including 4 Namibian DJs! DJ Musketeer taking the stage with a unique edition of Arthur on the guitar strings, DJ duo IAMMenyah and Locksmith, DJ Alba Nalo and DJ Alu all waved the Namibian flag high as they showcased their skills to the world.

The Amphitheatre with some acoustic and soulful sounds from Afrotronix and comedic experience from Daliso Chaponda amongst other artists.

And a bonus of the Meister House which gave some Afropop energy.

But the MTN Bushfire Festival isn’t just about the music; it’s a true cultural experience offering an opportunity for attendees to explore the bustling craft markets, indulge in mouthwatering local delicacies, and engage with artists, activists, and enthusiasts who share a passion for igniting positive change in the world. The festival also featured cultural dancers, acrobatic dancers, stilt walkers and fire eaters as part of its escapades.

With its dynamic mix of incredible music, cultural immersion, and unforgettable moments, this festival is a passport to an extraordinary world of wonder. Get ready to dance, sing, and create memories that will last forever, with next years dates set for 30 May – 02 June.
