Ondangwa pensioner denied bail over girlfriend’s murder

A 62-year-old pensioner appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court last Thursday following the alleged murder of his 32-year-old girlfriend.

According to the police report, the accused, Simeon David, used an unknown object to stab the girlfriend identified as Emilia Hatutale on 21 September, at a residence in Ondangwa.

It is alleged that a heated physical altercation occurred between the couple, and the police were informed and when they arrived at the scene, they found Hatutale, lying unresponsive on the ground with visible injuries.

The police said the accused was at the scene but became aggressive and was immediately taken into custody.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Lydia Kambonde while Naledi Hoeses represented the State.

The State denied the accused bail, citing the serious nature of the offense and because investigations are still at an infant stage.

The accused informed the court that he intends to apply for state-funded legal aid.

The magistrate postponed the matter to 02 February 2027 for further police investigations.
