Vice President calls for investment in early childhood education

Vice President, Lucia Witbooi, has called on communities and the private sector to prioritise early childhood education to secure the nation’s future. 

Witbooi made the call during a site visit to the Lucia Witbooi early childhood development centre at Otjimanangombe Village in the Ruacana Constituency on Wednesday. 

The centre was established in June last year, from marginalised Ovatwe and Ovatjimba communities and currently serves over 100 children.   

During her visit Witbooi pledged that her office would seek assistance to properly remunerate the two volunteer teachers, and she will solicit corporate sponsorship to build a permanent, suitable structure for learning. 

She further urged parents and traditional leaders to work together with teachers to end learner absenteeism.   

“Let us invest our time and resources where it matters most, and that is ensuring that our children receive better education, especially starting at an early age,” Witbooi said.
