The third Oil and Gas Conference is underway at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek, drawing industry leaders, government officials, and investors for four days of discussions on Namibia’s growing energy sector. The event, which concludes on Friday, is being covered by Future Media’s Angie Scholtz.
Speaking during one of the panel discussions, Angelique Peek from RMB Namibia noted that the scale of opportunities in the sector is immense. “One project, if it comes to light next year, could be as big as our GDP. That means we as a country will not be able to fund or play alone in space.
Industry experts at the conference stressed the importance of readiness, regulatory frameworks, and capacity building to ensure that Namibia’s oil and gas discoveries translate into sustainable economic growth. Delegates also discussed the need for strategic partnerships, environmental safeguards, and local content development to maximise benefits for the nation.
