Police in the Kavango West Region have launched an investigation after human remains believed to be those of a woman and her one-year-old child were discovered at Gcaruhwa village in the Musese Constituency.
According to the police, the discovery was made around 14h00 on Saturday, 11 October 2025, when a cattle herder came across the skeletal remains in a field.
The family later identified the remains, based on clothing found at the scene, as belonging to Hausiku Annastasia Mbunze and her one-year-old baby, only known as Mapeu.
It is alleged that Mbunze and her child left home in early August 2025, reportedly heading to the Gcaruhwa Clinic, but never returned.
