The Municipality of Walvis Bay has informed all municipal account holders that the High Court order granted to RedForce Debt Management on 19 October, allows the company to continue with debt collection and debt management operations on its behalf.

The local authority in a press release said: “Accordingly, RedForce Debt Management has been reinstated, and its debt collection and debt management operations on behalf of the Municipality have resumed. RedForce’s collection mandate has been restored, and the company is authorised to continue providing debt collection and debt management services on behalf of the Municipality of Walvis Bay.”

The Municipality advised all municipal account holders whose accounts have been handed over to RedForce to continue honouring their existing payment arrangements and to engage directly with RedForce regarding their outstanding municipal accounts.

The Municipality’s agreement with Redforce was signed on 8 August 2023 and was expected to conclude on 8 August 2029.

However, the contract was terminated with immediate effect, at a special Walvis Bay municipal council meeting on 7 October.
