The Ondangwa Town Council has officially announced the commencement of the annual Ondangwa General Annual Cleaning and Awareness Campaign.
The Public Relations Officer, Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha, said they are rallying residents, businesses, schools, and institutions to unite under the theme “Ondangwa Our Pride Keep It Clean.”
Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said the campaign is being led by town mayor Ester Mweneni Auala.
“The initiative spans five days, running from October 5th to October 9th, 2026. It aims to foster community pride, enhance public health, and encourage environmental responsibility across all locations and neighbourhoods within the town,” Shitalangaho-Mutikisha stated.
She urged community members across all areas to participate in active litter picking throughout the week starting at 07h00 daily.
Shitalangaho-Mutikisha added the weeklong drive will culminate in a main cleaning event scheduled for Friday, October 9th, 2026.
Participants for the main event will gather at the Ondangwa Town Council Office at 11h00 to mark the final stretch of the campaign.
The town council has partnered with numerous local corporate sponsors, small businesses, and stakeholders to ensure the success of the initiative.
Shitalangaho-Mutikisha urged leaders, members of the community to join hands during this week’s activities to maintain a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for all.
