Residents in Divundu and nearby communities in Kavango East will no longer need to travel long distances for mobile services following the opening of a new MTC mobile home in the town.

Information and Communication Technology Minister Emma Theofelus said network coverage has improved across Namibia in recent years. She added that the government now requires all service providers to offer minimum download speeds of 25 megabits per second.

MTC spokesperson Erasmus Nekundi said the new outlet eliminates the need for residents to travel about 200 kilometers to access services.
