President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Chief of Protocol, Leonard Iipumbu, as ambassador to Angola.

In a media statement issued by the presidency on Friday, Iipumbu, a seasoned diplomat and public servant, has over 30 years of experience in international relations.

He previously served as Namibia’s Ambassador to the United States, with concurrent accreditation to Brazil, Canada, and Mexico, as well as to France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. He also was the country’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO in France.

The Presidency said Iipumbu’s appointment reaffirms Namibia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Angola in key areas such as trade, energy, infrastructure development, and regional security.
