Background

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security has opened applications for student permits for the 2026 academic year. The application period runs from 3 November to 20 March 2026.

According to the Ministry, the fees are set at N$1,600 for primary and secondary school learners, and N$2,200 for tertiary education students.

Ministry spokesperson Margaret Kalo cautioned foreign students to use the permits strictly for academic purposes, warning that any misuse will result in serious penalties.

“Student permits are granted for study purposes only, and any violation of this condition may lead to cancellation and further legal action,” Kalo emphasised.
