With less than 12 hours before polls open, the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) says it is fully prepared for Wednesday’s Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.
Speaking ahead of the vote, ECN spokesperson De Wet Siluka said all polling teams have been deployed nationwide. He noted that deployment began on Sunday and was completed on Monday, with the majority of teams confirming that they had arrived at their stations and completed setup.
Urban stations in Windhoek West and the Commerce area completed their deployment on Monday due to their close proximity to polling points. Siluka stressed that these teams were also ready for Tuesday’s opening.
Siluka said the Commission had not experienced technical or logistical challenges during Monday’s special voting process. According to him, ECN teams had adequate staff, voter verification technology, and accessible polling stations in place.
Polling stations will open at 07:00 on Tuesday. The ECN is urging voters to turn out early and in large numbers.
