ECN confirms ballot paper discrepancies rectified ahead of 2025 elections

Background

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has confirmed that all discrepancies in the ballot papers for the 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections have been fully resolved.

Spokesperson De Wet Siluka told the media, “The Commission herewith informs the nation that all the ballot paper discrepancies have been rectified and the correct amount of ballot papers were delivered. All costs for printing the additional ballot papers were carried out by the suppliers.”

The corrected ballot papers arrived this morning at Hosea Kutako International Airport and were transported to the ECN Logistics Store for verification and packing. Siluka added that the dispatch of all sensitive election materials will commence today under police escort, and verification of these materials is expected to take place at all regional police stations upon arrival in their respective regions.

The ECN emphasized that preparations remain on track for special voting starting on 24 November and the main election scheduled for 26 November.
