Border officials at the Ariamsvlei Border Post discovered bags containing cannabis and mandrax tablets worth more than N$3.5 million early Sunday morning during a routine inspection.
According to the police, the discovery was made at around 01h20 under a bridge near the border entry point. Officials reportedly noticed suspicious shoe tracks leading under the bridge, where they found three large Sport Ruixingda bags hidden beneath.
Upon inspection, the bags were found to contain 59 parcels of cannabis, 55 grams of loose cannabis, and 4073 mandrax tablets.
The combined street value is approximately N$3 516 260.
No suspects were found in the vicinity, and the tracks had mixed with others in the area, making identification difficult.
The drugs have been seized and registered as found property, while police investigations continue.
