The Eengoshi Biker Club’s Ms Eengoshi 2025, Motjaritje Tjamuaha (26) is advocating for men’s mental health through a seminar set to take place on Saturday the 25th of October in Windhoek under the theme “Unchain the Silence, Unlock the Hope”.
Tjamuaha said the initiative aims to create a safe space for men to discuss issues such as suicide, addiction, domestic violence, vulnerability and healing.
“Due to the high suicide rates among Namibian men, I’ve decided to use my platform as the reigning Ms Eengoshi to create a safe space where men can be vulnerable and talk about why suicide is rampant. Even married men with jobs and families are among suicide victims therefore I would like them to discuss the why at Saturday’s Gentlemen’s Corner Seminar which will be held at Transworld Cargo in Windhoek,” Tjamuaha said.
She added the seminar will highlight the myth that associates vulnerability with weakness, one of the main reasons men do not open up or speak about the challenges they face. Tjamuaha also said individuals from the same background may often look to the same solutions for problems as this is what they were taught. Therefore, the speakers at the seminar are from different backgrounds and include men who have struggled with and recovered from addiction.
“One of our speakers is an advocate who has reached 31 years of sobriety in 2025. Clement prefers a first name basis for confidentiality. Another speaker is Nocky Kaapehi, a community activist,” Tjamuaha said.
She said this is her first engagement focusing on men’s mental health under the biker’s club’s charity wing. Tjamuaha explained that after the Windhoek seminar the initiative will be taken to the regions.
Tjamuaha said media coverage is welcome for the opening remarks and photo opportunities. However during the session no media will be allowed so that participants feel safe and vulnerable to speak freely without fear or embarrassment.
