The National Council has called for education on the difference between the two legislative houses of Parliament, the National Assembly, and the National Council. National Council Vice Chairperson Victoria Kauma urged government institutions, including the Ministry of Justice and educational institutions, to promote civic education and enable citizens to participate more effectively in governance.

This follows outreach visits to the //Karas and Erongo regions, during which the Council observed that many communities cannot distinguish between the roles of the two houses.

Kauma made the remarks on Tuesday, noting that a significant number of citizens lack awareness of how Parliament is structured, its functions, and the ways in which the public can contribute to the legislative process.
