Windhoek, 11 November 2025 – The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) has concluded salary negotiations with the Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU) and the Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN), finalising agreements for the 2024/2025 financial year.
The deal covers all eligible administrative and academic staff within the Bargaining Unit and reflects NUST’s ongoing commitment to fair employee compensation and constructive labour relations.
Under the agreement, administrative staff in job grades 7 to 11 will receive a 5% salary increase, while those in grades 12 to 16 will receive 6%. The increment applies to all permanently employed staff and those on full-time contracts of one year or longer.
For academic staff, NUST approved a 5% salary increase across the board, alongside an extension of its 80% medical aid contribution to all employees on Total Cost to Company packages, including those on full-time contracts of one year or more.
The new salary adjustments will be implemented retroactively from 1 January 2025 and reflected in the December 2025 payroll.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Andrew Niikondo praised the outcome, describing it as a reflection of teamwork and mutual respect.
“This agreement demonstrates our shared commitment to the wellbeing of our staff and the continued growth of the institution. We value the spirit of collaboration that made these negotiations a success,” he said.
