The NMT Media Foundation has marked the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, reaffirming that “Journalism is Not a Crime.” The Foundation honoured journalists killed or silenced in places like Gaza, Sudan, and the DRC, calling their deaths deliberate attacks on truth and accountability. It also warned of the rise in AI-driven gender-based violence targeting women journalists and urged stronger protection measures. A public webinar titled “Silencing the Messenger: How Impunity Threatens Democracy” will be held on Monday, 3 November, in partnership with Stellenbosch University. Here is the Director of the Namibia Media Trust, Zoé Titus.
