The Namibian Police have recorded five major drug-related arrests this week across the country, involving the possession and dealing of cannabis and cocaine. The total value of the confiscated drugs exceeds N$1.3 million, with several foreign nationals among those arrested.

In Windhoek’s Dorado Park, a 39-year-old Tanzanian man was arrested early on Sunday, after police discovered 13,805 grams of cannabis skunk and 185 grams of cocaine powder, along with cocaine bullets and powder, all valued at N$842 750.

At the Okahandja/Windhoek traffic checkpoint, a 51-year-old Tanzanian man was arrested after police found 6,665 grams of cannabis skunk worth N$333 250 concealed in the bonnet of his vehicle during a routine stop-and-search operation.

In Stampriet, two separate arrests were made. A 30-year-old woman was caught with five bankies of cannabis valued at N$350, while a 35-year-old woman was found with 735 grams of cannabis worth N$36 750 during a police search.

Also in the Stampriet area, two Namibian men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested at the T-junction of Stampriet, Gochas, and Aranos after being found with 15 grams of cannabis and N$2 990 suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.

Meanwhile, in Otjituuo, in the Grootfontein district, a 33-year-old woman was arrested following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered a cannabis plantation hidden among maize crops.

Police seized 90 fresh cannabis plants weighing 15.3 kilograms, along with 534 grams of loose cannabis, valued at N$158 440.

All suspects are expected to appear in their respective courts soon as police investigations continue.
