Khomas Police on Thursday recovered four vehicles and a large quantity of stolen household items believed to be linked to a series of housebreak-ins and robberies across Windhoek.
The vehicles, three Mazda Demios and one Volkswagen Golf GT along with stolen goods, were found hidden in Greenwell Matongo, Wanaheda, Ombili, Oshitenda, Babylon and Damara location.
These areas have been identified by the police as key hiding spots for stolen property.
“There are many recovered items, including ladies’ belongings and house accessories,” remarked Khomas police head of community affairs sub-division, Chief Inspector Katrina Nashikaku.
She said the police believe the same suspects are believed to be behind several recent burglaries across the capital.
The discovery follows an ongoing investigation that intensified earlier this week.
On Wednesday, police apprehended several suspects in Rocky Crest who had allegedly been terrorising residents. At the scene, officers also recovered various stolen items and fake number plates.
Nashikaku said the police worked throughout Wednesday evening and continued investigations on Thursday morning, leading to the discovery of vehicles and household items.
“So far, one more suspect has been arrested, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to four. The investigation is still ongoing, and we are trying to determine the rightful owners of these vehicles and items.” said Nashikaku.
The public is urged to visit the Otjomuise Police Station to identify any belongings, especially household items and car parts, that may have been recovered during the operation.
