The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has granted a short-term extension for political parties, independent candidates, and associations to correct errors in their nomination submissions for the upcoming regional and local authority elections.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the extension applies to 68 nominations including 35 for Regional Council and 33 for Local Authority elections that were referred back due to non-compliance issues such as missing registration certificates, unsigned forms, missing seals, and failure to meet gender representation requirements.
The affected nominations involve 11 political parties, including the PDM, LPM, NEFF, IPC, and SWANU; eight independent candidates from constituencies across the country; and the Rehoboth Rate Payers Association.
The ECN said the final deadline for corrections via the PPCM portal is Friday, 17 October 2025, at 15h00. The portal will be open from 08h00 to 15h00 to allow parties and candidates to make the necessary amendments.
The ECN warned that any nominations not rectified by the deadline will be rejected under the Electoral Act of 2014.
