The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has recruited and trained 210 polling officials in preparation of the Outapi Constituency by-election.

ECN spokesperson Mulauli Siluka confirmed this on Tuesday.

“These officials will be deployed at 40 fixed and four mobile polling stations. The training took place in Outapi from 21 to 25th September.

This by-election is set for 29 September this year, in accordance with law, after the Outapi Regional Council seat became vacant on 1 July when Councillor Immanuel Shikongo was appointed Governor of Omusati.

Siluka confirmed that only two candidates are contesting the by-election: Selma Asino of SWAPO and Fillemon Shikwambi of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC).

The by-election comes just two months before the national regional and local authority elections set for 26 November 2025.
