Established in 2023, Geluk Psychological Services’ Pro Bono Clinic began as a small initiative to provide free therapy sessions for existing clients and community members unable to afford mental health support. Since then, it has grown into a consistent monthly program dedicated to serving the wider population.

Hina Matengu, a psychologist at Geluk, highlights the clinic’s core mission: “Our goal has always been to be present for our clients and the community—to offer a space where individuals feel heard, seen, and supported, regardless of their circumstances.”

The challenges of 2025 have weighed heavily on many people, with stress from work, school, and personal issues impacting mental well-being. As Mental Health Awareness Month approaches, it provides a crucial opportunity for individuals to pause and honestly assess their mental health.

Given the limited access to mental health care in the region, the Pro Bono Clinic plays a vital role in meeting growing needs. The August sessions on the 8th and 22nd have already reached full capacity, demonstrating increased demand. Upcoming clinic dates are set for September 5th and 19th, with confirmations to be shared closer to those times.

To stay updated or book future appointments, Geluk Psychological Services encourages the public to follow their social media pages on Instagram and Facebook at “Geluk Psychological Services,” or to call 0817724334.

Recognizing that mental health is fundamental to overall well-being, Geluk Psychological Services remains committed to offering compassionate support through its Pro Bono Clinic, ensuring no one has to face their struggles alone.
