She made the remarks during a recent visit to a centre for flood victims at Etunda in the Omusati region. Political Analyst Ndumba Kamwanyah gave his input on the matter.

The Health ministry has responded to a viral video showing nurses seated while patients waited outside Swakopmund Hospital for dental services. Ministry spokesperson, Walters Kamaya, clarified that the patients were informed beforehand about the limited dental facilities, which include only one room with a single chair and available doctor.

In South Africa, the DA is pushing ahead with its legal challenge against the planned 0.5-percentage point VAT increase set for 1 May. The case will be heard in the Western Cape High Court today. DA spokesperson Karabo Khakhau says they want an urgent interdict to halt the hike, arguing that the approval process in Parliament was flawed.

South Sudan’s army has reclaimed a crucial town in Upper Nile state, which was seized by an ethnic Nuer militia in March, triggering the arrest of First Vice President Riek Machar and escalating the political crisis, according to Reuters. President Salva Kiir and Machar have been in a fragile power-sharing arrangement since a 2018 peace agreement ended a civil war that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.

Four Democratic lawmakers are in El Salvador demanding Kilmar Abrego Garcia be returned to the US. Garcia was wrongly deported to a notorious prison in the country last month – something the White House admitted was an “administrative error.” Toni Waterman has more.
